Are the Veterinarians & Staff experienced?
The Veterinarians & Staff are licensed & trained. The clinic has performed over 30,000 surgeries & uses only the best equipment & materials. The low cost is to make it affordable to the public. Donations accepted.

How old does my pet need to be in order to be spayed or neutered?
The age requirement for surgery is 8wks & 2lbs. Most health & Behavioral benefits occur if altered before 6 months of age.

How frequently will my dog or cat go into heat?
Dogs go into heat about every 6 months & last about 2 weeks.
Cats seem to be in heat all the time. They generally start at 6 months of age.

Can litter mates get pregnant?
Yes. They can create their own litters. You don’t want that to happen.

How long after my dog has puppies can she be spayed?
As soon as the litter is weaned. Usually about 6 – 8wks after birth.

Does my pet have to be current on its vaccines in order to have surgery?
It is recommended that the vaccines be current but it is not required.

Will my pet’s behavior change after surgery?
Your pet’s behavior will not change except that male dogs & cats will be less likely to fight, roam & females will no longer go into heat.

Vaccine Protocol

K-9 Vaccines

D.H.P.P (DA2PPv) Canine Distemper-Adenvirus Type 2 Parainfluenza-Parvo Vaccine, Modified Live Virus.  Administered at 8wks, 12wks, 16wks & annually.

Bordetella (Inta-Trac-II) Canine Parainfluenza-Bordetella Bronchiseptica Vaccine, Modified Live Virus. Administered any time after 8wks of age then annually.

Corona (Cv) Administered any time after 8wks, Modified Live Virus.

Rabies (Rabvac 3) Administered at 16wks, 1 year, & then every three years, Killed Virus

Giardia (Giardia Lamblia)  Administered at 8wks or older & followed up with second dose 3-4wks after first vaccine. Administered Annually after boosters. Killed Protozoa.

Lyme – Administered at 8wks or older & followed up with second dose 3-4wks after first vaccine. Administered Annually after boosters

Feline Vaccines

F.V.R.C.P – Feline Rhinotracheitis – Calici – Panleukopenia – Chlamydia Psittaci Vaccine, Modified Live Virus & Chlamydia. Administered at 8wks, 12wks, 16wks & then annually.

FeLV (Fevaxyn) Administered after 8wks of age & then annually. All cats must be tested for Leukemia before being administered the vaccine.  Killed Virus

Rabies (Rabvac 3) Administered at 16wks, 1 year, & then every 3 years. Killed Virus.

Only healthy animals without history of reactions should be vaccinated.
Pregnant animals can only be administered the Rabies Vaccine. No other vaccines can be administered until after birth.

Flea Control

Advantage – Monthly topical flea treatment for cats & dogs 7 weeks & older. Advantage kills 98 – 100% of fleas on pets within 12 hours. Reinfesting fleas are killed within 2 hours with protection against further flea infestation last up to four weeks. Pre-existing pupae in the environment may continue to emerge for six weeks or longer depending upon the climate conditions. Larval flea stage in the pet’s surroundings are killed following contact with advantage. Advantage remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Monthly treatments are required for optimal control & prevention of fleas.
Active Ingredient – Imidacloprid

K-9 Advantix – Monthly topical treatment for flea, tick & mosquitoes for dogs only 7 weeks & older. K-9 Advantix kills 98-100% of the existing fleas, ticks & mosquitoes within 12 hours. K-9 Advantix remains effective following shampoo treatment, swimming or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Monthly treatments are required for optimal control and prevention.
Active Ingredient – Imidacloprid & Permathrin

Frontline Plus – Monthly topical treatment for dogs & cats 8wks & older to prevent fleas, ticks & chewing lice. Kills adult fleas, flea eggs and flea larvae. Kills all stages of deer ticks, brown dog ticks, American dog ticks, and lone star ticks.
Active Ingredient – Fipronil & (s)- Methoprene
